Meet our year-long intern Dillon! He recently joined the camp crew the end of August. He began attending camp as a camp kid with his family when he was an infant. At the age of 14, he became a counselor-in-training and has been a counselor ever since serving multiple weeks a summer. He was also a part of the 2017 Summer Internship Program. As a year intern, Dillon will be living with the residents of the Hartley House as well as four other guy year-long interns. A large part of his work will be to finish the construction of Camp Daniel’s new grounds. As an intern he is also involved with Special Olympics, The Hub Student Ministry and The Able Church. While doing all of these jobs he is learning about non-profit work, disability, leadership and what it mean to be a missionary to a subculture.
The missionary aspect of being a year-long intern is a large part of an intern’s experience and growth during their year. All the staff at Camp Daniel are full time missionaries to people with disabilities, and like most missionaries, Dillon will need to raise $600 in monthly financial support to pay rent, food, transportation, and other living expenses. He asks for your financial support, whether it be $10, $20, $50, or $100 a month.
